How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
It’s very easy to keep your iPhone or iPad up to date with the latest features and security enhancement for better performance. There are two ways to achieve this:
- Wirelessly
- Computer
A smart move is to ensure you back up your device and connect it to the power source and connect to Wi-Fi. A compatible cable is needed for the device which could be a Mac or a Computer. When an update is available for the device, you might get a pop up on your screen requesting that you tap to install the new features.
If not
Automatic updates are available on IOS 13.6 and later version by default. In other words, the device will update automatically overnight while it’s still charging. In some cases, an up to date might be done manually.
How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Tap Install
- Input your passcode.
- Follow the instructions
If a message pops up saying you need more space on the device for a wireless up to date you could delete content manually and update using the computer.
- To update your iPhone or iPad using a computer
- Ensure the device is plugged into the computer.
- The computer is connected to the internet.
- If you are using a Mac with mac OS Catalina or later
- Open the Finder.
If you have a Mac computer with MacOS Mоjave or earlier or a Window computer
- Open iTunes.
A message will pop up about updating the device when you connect it to the computer.

Locate the device in the side band to ensure you are on the General Tab.
In some versions of iTunes, this may appear.

- Click Update.
Then click download and update
