The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini are Apple’s innovation mobile phone for 2020. These phones have identical features and supports 5G cellular network. We’ll be talking about the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max in this article. The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 pro Max are Apple’s one of the best iPhone devices, which comes with:

These models were released into the market on the 13th of October 2020. There is more emphasis on the Pro aspect of this iPhone, which as claimed by Apple was pushed beyond the boundaries of innovation for people who want to get the best out of these iPhones. The 12 Pro models feature on the screen, a super retina XDR display, which are edge to edge except for the face ID touch

  • The 6.1-inch iPhone has a resolution of 2532 to by 1170 with 460 pixels by inch
  • The 6.7-inch iPhone pro Max has a resolution of 2778 by 1284 and a 458 PPI

The displays offer HDR support with:  

  • 1200 minutes peak brightness,

  • Haptic touch
  • True toned.

The display is protected by a ceramic shield which Apple claims go beyond the glass and far better than any other smartphone glass. It’s infused with nano ceramic crystals and offers 4X better drop performance.

This phone comes with an entirely new outlook, although it could be deemed like the design of the iPad Pro with flat edges instead of rounded ones which was used in the previous models. There’s a precision milled matte glass surrounded by a stainless-steel band.

These models offer IP68 water and dust resistance which will hold up to a 6 mm formation in water for up to 30 minutes. There’s a smart data mode that reverts to an LTE connection when 5G speed is not needed; this helps to preserve the battery’s lifespan.  These phones were designed within a 14 Chip, the first tube in the smartphone industry to be built on a 5 Nanometre process for great performance and Efficiency.

The player comes with the 6 core CPU and 4 core CPU in the A14 chip. They are 50% faster compared to other fastest smartphone chips. The A14 chip includes a 16-core neural engine which offers up to 80 percent increase in performance for machine learning tasks.

The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max are identical in a lot of ways, but there are exceptions with the cameras.

The iPhone 12 Pro is equipped with:

Dual optical image stabilisation is supported by iPhone 12

The iPhone 12 pro Max supports:

  • There’s more realistic AR experience and improves autofocus by 6x in-lieu light Scenes for improved accuracy. The night mode, portraits are enabled in the LiDAR scanner.

  • 80 hours of audio playback

This is the longest battery life of an iPhone. The new phones come with fast charging, which means 50% charge occurs within 30 minutes using a 20-watt power adapter.

A new Magsafe was introduced by Apple to go with the new iPhone 12 models, the accessory is designed to work with a ring of magnets built into devices. There’s a magsafe case and charger plus wallet as accessories. Magsafe supports 15 Watts wireless charging this is an upgrade from the 7.5 charging available true standard IQ based wireless chargers.

  • The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max are being sold together with the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12.
  • The iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 is a 5.4, 6.1 inch, the design elements and the camera features cannot be compared to the iPhone 12 Pro and Max.

iPhone 12 Pro 

The review for these phones has been positive. People who already have the phone are really excited about the cameras. The main thing that people are talking about are:

  • Cameras are low light performance camera
  • Noise reduction,
  • Improvements to the contrast.

More

  • The HDR video recording in Dolby vision supports the camera and night mode selfies. This is a good audition for the front facing camera.
  • The ultra-ultra-wide camera distorts less at the edges, the ultra-wide photos and telephoto lenses are very sharp and detailed.
  • The new HDR video is mostly going to be appreciated by those who use the iPhone as a video making tool.
  • Looking at the other side of the coin some reviewers are not really impressed with the 5G, since a 5G network is still work in progress therefore not widely available.

iPhone 12 pro Max 

This phone shares the same features as the iPhone 12 Pro but there are some additions such as extra enhancements to the camera, additional battery due to its size. The advanced camera system comes with night mode selfies. These phones have a remarkably durable ceramic shield front, with a bright beautiful OLED display.

The battery will last all day long because of its size and because it’s a bigger battery, although 5G usage also needs to be considered. Reviews proclaimed that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max produce similar photos and you can’t really tell the difference even though a bigger photo comes with a large sensor and an improved telephoto lens. They claim that you will only notice the differences in low light conditions. In some situations, the Promax will produce a more detailed, less noisy image and much better compared to 2.5x zoom range.

The same round edge design has been popular since the Invention of the Apple iPhone 6, with the unveiling of the iPhone 12 line-up in 2020 comes a change. These two Phones come with a flat sided design with square edges, this model is like the design language of the iPad Pro. This new design is a major departure from the previous one.

The front part of these phones come with slimmer bezels, also at the front is the notch which house:

At the top and sides of the phones are the antenna, you have the standard Power button on the right and volume buttons on the left. There’s a new 5G mm wave underneath the power button, although this feature is limited to use model.

At the bottom of iPhone 12 are the speaker hose and built-in microphone, the lighting port supports lighting, the slim slot was moved to the left. There’s a camera bump at the top which house the triple lens camera. The camera is set up with a flash and a new LiDAR sensor which can be found at the back of the iPhone.

True Depth, camera and Face ID

The facial recognition system was introduced in 2017, the iPhone 12 and 12 mini use face ID for biometric authentication. The face ID component can be found in the True Depth, camera system in the display notch. Face ID is used on all IOS devices for:

  • Unlocking the iPhone
  • Give access to third party passcode – protected apps
  • App purchases confirmation
  • Apple pay system authentication

Face ID works through a set of sensor and cameras, over 30,000 invisible infrared dots are projected onto the surface of the skin to create a 3D facial scan. This facial scan maps the curve and planes of each face, and the scan is read by the infrared camera.

A14 Bionic Chip

This bionic chip was classified as the first A-series chip built on a 5-nanometer process across the iPhone 12 line up. The performance increases the speed and efficiency, the A14 features are 40 percent more transistors (11.8 billion) compared to A13. The A14 has a better battery life and the performance is faster.

The 6-Core CPU and the 4-Core GPU in the A14 Bionic chip is 50 percent faster than any other top smartphone chip in the market in the year 2020.

  • The iPhone 12 Pro model measures 6.1 and 6.7, they 6 months is regarded as the largest phone ever been produced by Apple.
  • The iPhone 12 pro model measure sat 5.7 tall (146.6mm), 2.82 inches wide (71.5mm) and 0.29 inches thick (74mm).
  • The iPhone 12 pro Max measures at 6-point inches tall (160.8mm), 3.07 inches wide (78.1mm) and 0.29 inches thick (7.4mm).

Display 

The OLED super retina XDR display is all the same for the iPhone 12 models, they are flexible and extend right into the trousers of each device. There’s an improved 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio for blacker blacks and brighter whites. There are up to 1200 nits’ peak brightness for:

  • Videos
  • Tv shows and movies.
  • The resolution for the 6.1 iPhone 12 Pro is 2532 x 1170 plus 462 pixels per inch.
  • The resolution for the 6 points pro max is 278 x 1284 plus 458 pixels per inch.

The white-collar insured at the true-to-life colour and the true tone match the white balance of the display. This ensures that the paper like viewing experience does not put any strain on the eyes. The Haptic touch is supported by the fingerprint resistant oleophobic coating which provides haptic feedback when there’s an interaction with the display. Haptic touch is enabled true a smaller taptic engine in the 2020 iPhones.

Neural Engine

The 16-Core neural engine is 80 percent faster than the previous generation neural engine. The machine learning accelerators are about 70 percent faster. This neural engine will complete 11 trillion operations per seconds, therefore the application of deep fusion improvements to photo are faster than ever.

Other Improvements include support for:

  • Dolby vision recording
  • Smart HDR 3 for true to life colour shifts in photos
  • An advanced temporal noise reduction that reduces noise in the videos

These models are the first model to be equipped with LiDAR scanner. Lidar scanner was introduced in the 2020 iPad Pro models.  The scanner measures how long it takes the light to reflect from the objects around you which allows you to create a depth map of the room.
