Record and Send an Audio Message

  1. Open Messages: Launch the Messages app on your iPad.
  2. Start a New Message or Open a Conversation: Tap the compose button to start a new message or open an existing conversation.
  3. Record Your Message: Tap the audio button and speak your message.
    • Pause: Tap the pause button.
    • End: Tap the stop button.
  4. Send or Edit:
    • Send: Tap the send button.
    • Listen: Tap the play button.
    • Add to Message: Tap the plus button.
    • Cancel: Tap the trash can button.
  5. Save Messages:
    • Keep: Tap “Keep” to save an incoming or outgoing audio message.
    • Automatic Deletion: Messages are automatically deleted after 2 minutes unless saved.

Listen to and Reply to an Audio Message

  1. Open the Conversation: Go to the conversation containing the audio message.
  2. Play the Message: Tap the play button to listen to the message.
  3. Control Playback:
    • Fast-Forward/Rewind: Swipe left or right on the message.
    • Adjust Speed: Touch and hold the play/pause or fast-forward/rewind buttons.
  4. Save the Message:
    • In Messages: Tap “Keep” to save it within the conversation.
    • In Voice Memos: Touch and hold the message and choose “Save to Voice Memos.”

Additional Tips:

  • Quick Reply: Tap the audio button in the text field to quickly record a follow-up message.
  • Automatic Transcription: Audio messages are automatically transcribed in the sender’s language.
  • Raise to Listen: Raise your iPad to your ear to play a message. Lower it and raise it again to reply.
  • FaceTime Call: Tap the FaceTime button to switch to a video or audio call.

Share Your Location in Real-Time

  • In an iMessage conversation:
    1. Open the Messages app.
    2. Start a new message or open an existing one.
    3. Tap the Location button (above the keyboard) or tap the contact’s name at the top and select Share Location or Share My Location.
    4. Choose a duration: Indefinitely or a specific time.
    5. Tap Send.

Stop Sharing Your Location

  • Open the conversation and:
    1. Tap the shared location message and select Stop Sharing My Location.
    2. Tap the contact’s name and select Stop Sharing or Stop Sharing My Location.

Request Someone’s Location

  • Open the conversation and:
    1. Tap the Location button and select Request.
    2. Send a message asking “Where are you?” and tap Request Location (above the keyboard).
    3. Tap the contact’s name and select Request Location.

Note: Location sharing and finding people may not be available in all regions. Ensure Location Services is enabled in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Find My.

Sending a Pinned Location (for SMS conversations)

  • Open the Messages app.
  • Start a new message or open an existing one.
  • Tap the Location button.
  • Drag the pin to the desired location.
  • Tap Send Pin.

Additional Tips:

  • To reshare your location in a group conversation after adding new members, simply share your location again.
  • To view a shared location, tap the contact’s name at the top of the conversation and view the map.

Enhance Your Portraits with a Tap

The Photos app on your iPad lets you easily adjust and refine your portraits. You can change lighting effects, depth of field, and even the focus point.

Adjusting Portrait Lighting

  1. Select Your Portrait: Tap on a portrait to view it full screen, then tap “Edit.”
  2. Choose a Lighting Effect: Tap the lighting icon and select from these options:
    • Natural Light: A classic look with a blurred background.
    • Studio Light: Bright and even lighting.
    • Contour Light: Dramatic shadows and highlights.
    • Stage Light: Spotlit subject against a dark background.
    • Stage Light Mono: Black and white version of Stage Light.
    • High-Key Light Mono: Grayscale subject on a white background (iPad Pro 11-inch 2nd gen or later, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 4th gen or later only).
  3. Save Your Edit: Tap “Done” to save your changes.

Fine-Tuning Portrait Lighting

  3. Save Your Edit: Tap “Done” to save your changes.

Changing the Focus Point

On iPad, you can change the main subject of your portrait (taken on iPhone 13 or later with iOS 16 or later):

  1. Open Your Portrait: Tap on a portrait to view it full screen, then tap “Edit.”
  2. Select a New Subject: Tap on the desired subject in the photo.
  3. Adjust Depth: Use the Depth Control slider to fine-tune the background blur.
